Focus area 07
Access to essential resources
Carefully designed support with essentials, when it is needed, without taking away anyone's dignity.
Proposed — not yet active
The problem
Sometimes a family's immediate needs — during illness, a crisis or a difficult season — make everything else impossible. Help in those moments matters, but poorly designed handouts can create dependence or embarrassment.
Who it is for
- Families facing a temporary crisis
- People who are eligible for government support but have not been able to access it
Proposed approach
- Helping people access the public schemes and entitlements they already have a right to
- Time-bound, needs-based support with clear criteria
- Coordination with local bodies and other organisations to avoid duplication
- No public display of recipients, and no photographs without informed consent
Eligibility and participation
Any support of this kind will only begin once clear criteria, safeguards and record-keeping are in place, and those criteria will be published here.
