Draft — requires legal review
Conflict-of-Interest Policy
How we prevent personal interests from influencing the foundation's decisions.
Draft — requires legal review
This policy is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed by a qualified legal professional and may change. Publishing it does not mean the foundation is compliant with any law. Hindi translations of policies will follow after legal review.
Scope
This policy applies to the founder, trustees or directors (once appointed), staff, volunteers in decision-making roles and advisers.
What counts as a conflict
A conflict of interest arises when a person's personal, family or financial interests could influence — or appear to influence — a decision they make for the foundation. Examples include buying from a relative's business or selecting a family member for support.
Disclosure
- Conflicts must be declared in writing as soon as they arise.
- A register of declared interests will be kept and reviewed annually.
- The person with a conflict will not take part in the related decision.
Related-party transactions
Any transaction with a related party will require prior approval by people without a conflict and will be disclosed in the foundation's financial reports.
