Focus area 01
Education access and learning opportunities
Helping children and young people stay in learning when money, distance or circumstance gets in the way.
Proposed — not yet active
The problem
Many families in Uttar Pradesh value education deeply but face practical barriers: the cost of materials and coaching, long distances, the need for children to help at home, and few quiet places to study.
When a child falls behind in the early years, the gap tends to widen. Small, consistent support at the right time can make the difference between staying in school and leaving it.
Who it is for
- Children and adolescents from households facing financial hardship
- First-generation learners
- Girls who are at risk of leaving school early
- Young adults returning to learning
Proposed approach
- Open, welcoming learning sessions in community spaces, run at times that suit families
- Help with school readiness, reading and basic maths for children who have fallen behind
- Guidance for families on scholarships and government schemes they may already be entitled to
- Working alongside schools and teachers, never replacing them
Eligibility and participation
Eligibility criteria will be published before any programme begins. They will be based on need, will not depend on religion, caste or gender, and will not require families to share more personal information than necessary.
